The description says it engraves metal and shows pet tags which are aluminum. My jewelry blanks are also aluminum. I have tried every option I can think of and this laser makes absolutely can mark on metal. The only reason I took a chance on this machine is for metal usage. I want to put names etc. on my jewelry blanks to make necklaces, etc. The advertisers need to remove the photos of pet tags from the advert as well as the word metal. If you only want to do wood or cardboard, this will work for you. I tested it on wood, did a great job.
